Learn about the levies on your April 23 ballot. The Replacement Levy for Educational Programs and Operations levy will replace an expiring levy that makes up about 14% of the district's budget. There is no tax-rate increase with the EP&O levy. The Capital Improvements and Safety Levy is a new levy. It focuses on the maintenance and preservation of district facilities and safety/security improvements across the district and seeks to address the short-term needs identified by the Citizens’ Facilities Advisory Committee. As part of Lakewood School District’s commitment to financial responsibility, the district successfully completed a $30,480,000 public sale of their Unlimited Tax General Obligation Refunding Bonds, 2024A. The sale was finalized on March 5, 2024. The purpose of this sale was to refinance the District’s outstanding 2014 Bonds. This refinancing will reduce the District’s existing debt obligation by more than $4.6 million over the next nine years.

Students in Karin Robinson’s class at Cougar Creek Elementary were learning about resiliency this week with school counselor Bailey Richardson. Each lesson starts with a “mindful music meditation.” Then, using a book called, “Weathering the Storm,” students had a chance to hold their Slumberkins stuffies and think about how the characters reacted to a challenging situation.
